Project Salvstruct
Starting Date: 02/12/2018
Printer #1: Epson 7800 (Received on 02/13/2018 for $15)
Salvaging Process Initiated:
Initial Thoughts: Salvaging parts from old electronics is time consuming and if not researched carefully enough, you may end up with parts you don't need or want.
Concluding Thoughts: Salvaging materials and parts from outdated, broken or any electronic product does not often seem to necessarily outweigh its benefits. Definitely questions whether salvaging electronics has its benefits. One particular benefit is the fact that you may be able to salvage parts that are more expensive when bought individually.
Concluding Results: This printer was a bust; no threaded rods, and no stepper motors were found inside. The only functional parts obtained were several gears, two dc motors and a glass panel.
Project Conclusion: Salvaging parts from electronics such as printers has turned out to be extremely extensive and timely while yielding minimal results.
